The story begins when April O'Neil purchases an ancient, mysterious Japanese scepter at a flea market. Unbeknownst to her, the scepter possesses magical time-traveling properties based on an equal distribution of mass. While holding it, April inadvertently swaps places with Kenshin, a young prince from 17th-century Japan who is holding the same scepter in his own timeline.
April lands in 1603 and is immediately captured by the tyrannical Lord Norinaga. To rescue her, the four Turtles use the scepter to travel back to the past. They arrive in feudal Japan and must team up with a band of rebel villagers, led by a woman named Mitsu, to defeat Lord Norinaga and an opportunistic English arms trader named Walker.
