The Taiwan Lottery, officially known as the or Receipt Lottery , is a unique system established by the Taiwanese government in 1951 to encourage tax compliance. Every purchase in Taiwan generates a receipt with an 8-digit lottery number.

While the Taiwan Lottery is a regulated financial system, "Syair SDY" (Syair Sydney) refers to a traditional Southeast Asian practice of using "poems" or "verse codes" to predict lottery numbers, primarily for the Sydney (SDY) market.

Rewards range from NT$200 for matching the last three digits to a Special Prize of NT$10 million (approx. US$300,000) for matching all eight digits.
