Back in Atlanta, Prince recovers from his gunshot wounds in a hospital. Urged by his powerful father, Eric (Bradley Whitford), he begins to accept that Amber is likely lost forever. He even starts exploring a political career, meeting with a Senator to discuss a potential run for office.

After losing the trail of the guerrillas, Bambi spirals into a whiskey-fueled depression in a small Venezuelan town. He essentially "hits rock bottom," eventually trying to blend in as a simple fisherman while keeping a quiet watch for his sister, Amber.

The story splits between the gritty reality in South America and the polished political world in Atlanta.
